A reader’s reflection
It’s half-empty and it’s mine
Six weeks ago I couldn’t picture one good day. I mean that literally — I’d try to imagine something to look forward to and come up blank.
Today I signed a lease on my own place. It’s small. Half the rooms are empty. There’s one chair and a kettle. And walking in, I felt something I hadn’t felt in months, which was that this was a beginning and not just an ending.
I’m not going to pretend it’s fixed. But to whoever’s in week one right now, reading this at 2am: it does move. Slower than you want. But it moves.
